Tofino 2020

My boyfriend took me to Tofino on Vancouver Island to celebrate our 7 year anniversary last month so I'm sharing some of the best moments we had on this trip. It was both of our first times here so we were both very excited to explore the island for the weekend. I've heard the weather in Tofino is usually pretty iffy, but we lucked out with beautiful weather and lots of sunshine.

The ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo

The summer months are Tofino's busiest season so all of the restaurants were typically a 45min - 1hr wait & don't usually take recomendations so I would suggest showing up early if you don't want a long wait. The first night here we went to The Schooner Restaurant which was only a 5min walk from the lodge we were staying in & absolutely delicious.

We stayed at the Himwitsa Lodge right in the heart of downtown Tofino & had a stunning view of the water from our balcony. Our private outdoor hot tub jacuzzi on the deck & a fireplace inside added a romantic touch to the setting.

My boyfriend booked a surprise excursion to Meares Island which was a quick 15min boat ride led by a sailor who gave us a nice tour of some other islands around Tofino. The speedboat dropped us off at Meares Island where we hiked around the boardwalk for about an hour & then had a picnic right on the water.

The second night we dined at a restaurant called Shelter which had the most delightful frozen blended drinks

Taking advantage of the hot tub jacuzzi & enjoying the sun set behind the mountains

We shopped at so many cute local boutiques & a farmers market in the park where I got a marvelous smelling vanilla & maple candle made by a local artisan. We stopped off for lots of smoothies at the juice bar in town & got some of the best donuts & coffee at Rhino coffeeshop.

The highlight of the trip was definitely hitting up Long Beach at the Pacific Rim National Park. I think we were probably the only ones not dressed in wet suits & surfing the waves. Although, I really wanted to try surfing, we didn't end up doing it. The beach was still super cool with smooth sand & huge waves.

The last night in Tofino, we dined at Hatch Restaurant which was a waterfront restaurant located beside a hotel. Naturally we sat on the patio & took in the spectacular views.
